The History of Radio Tour at 4MBS Museum of Radio

Outing Description

Established in 1979 in the sunny city of Brisbane, 4MBS began life as a small community classical music radio station, broadcasting on 103.7FM. Today, 4MBS are one of Australia's premiere community radio stations, producing three different radio services. They also produce festivals, plays and concerts, and provide arts and educational services. 4MBS promote, entertain, and educate people about classical music and related arts.

In addition to broadcasting, 4MBS provide performance and employment opportunities for Queensland talent - not only musicians, but actors, directors, composers, writers as well as lighting and set designers.

4MBS is also recognised for its promotion of young and emerging musicians, and artists through many school, university and community based activities. 4MBS broadcasts from a lovely old “Queenslander” style house which has been converted into a radio studio with an adjoining performance studio.

Within the museum you will find information boards that document the history of 4MBS as well as the history of radio itself. If this isn’t enough, they even have a wide range of vintage radios that you can touch, feel and learn all about!

If this sounds interesting to you and you would like to find out more please feel free to contact Peter so he can set up a personal guided tour and information session for you.
