Touch and Feed the Sharks and Sting Rays at Shark and Ray Nursery

Outing Description

The Shark and Ray Nursery was established in Brisbane in 2017 and is run by a Redlands local named Paul. The animals in Paul’s care include baby sharks, shark eggs, sting rays and star fish. These animals have all been rescued from the nets of trawlers or situations where the animal has been injured and can no longer take care of themselves.

What can you expect at the Shark and Ray Nursery?

Your visit to the Shark and Rays Nursery will give you the chance to learn about, touch and feed a variety of ocean animals.

The way that it will work is once you are in the Shark and Ray Gardens the owner, Paul, will give you a short overview of the health and safety rules to ensure your wellbeing.

Once the health and safety talk is complete, you are allowed to wade into the shallow pool for a closer look at the sharks and rays. Paul gives an interesting talk with lots of facts about the sharks and rays in his care. At the end of the explanation for each animal, you will be allowed to hold out your hand to touch them. While he is talking, the rays will be gliding around in the water, around your legs and over your feet. They are very comfortable with guests being in their space.

Paul advises you to wear shorts and flip flops or sandals as you will be getting wet if you want to get a personal experience.
