Foodies Day out at Spicers Hidden Vale Grandchester
Outing Description
A little off the beaten track lies Grandchester: a quaint little town about an hour outside of Brisbane. If you ask most people: ‘have you ever heard of Grandchester?’ You may receive a look of bewilderment.
People may ask you: ‘why would you go to Grandchester. Are you mad?’
Your answer should simply be: ‘I am not mad; I am only seeking the finest local produce used in a meal that has been creatively and cleverly paired perfectly with the right flavours and is presented as if it belongs on the King’s dining table.’
Their next question will surely be - where is this place you speak of? The answer: Spicers Hidden Vale Restaurant in Grandchester.
If you would like to turn Spicers Hidden Vale into a day trip, why not have morning tea at Laidley Florist and Tea Room along the way? At this cafe - you will find a wide selection of delightful teas you will be able to enjoy whilst immersed in an abundance of beautiful smelling native flowers. For an extra treat after your morning tea, we can go for a short walk down the road to the Potato Shack, which is a gift shop that sells a fascinating range of knickknacks made from locally sourced natural materials.
Once we have finished exploring the Potato Shack we will make our way to the main event - Spicers Hidden Vale - where we will first venture down to the Vale’s petting zoo. The petting zoo will inhabit animals such as cows, pigs, chickens and much more that you will be able to pat if you desire, as well as be in their calming presence.
Once we have finished at the petting zoo, we will have lunch at the Spicers Hidden Vale bar restaurant. The Vale restaurant will serve main meals like the barn beef burger served with dirty ketchup, pickled green chillies and house smoked cheddar, as well as Wood Roasted Chicken served with almond tarator and homage farm honey. Other meals include the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the Pulled Pork Roll just to name a few.
After lunch, we will go for a short walk along the Spicers Hidden Vale fire track, which is one of many fantastic walking tracks on the restaurant’s 12,000-acre propriety. After out walk we will drop you home for the conclusion of the outing.

Daytime Outing Duration – 8 hours
This outing will not be offered as a night activity due to the operation times of the businesses we will be visiting. Lastly the duration of this outing is an estimate, we will try our best to conduct the activity within the allotted hours but if we are unable to for unforeseen reasons - the total cost will be adjusted accordingly.
For all forms of support travel costs = $1/km divided by the number of participants attending the outing. Payments can be made by using NDIS funds and are added on to the total cost of services after the outing.
