Mary Cairncross Reserve

Outing Description

Our destination for this outing will take us to the Blackall ranges on the Sunshine Coast, where we will find the Mary Cairncross conservation park around 90 km from Brisbane. Mary Cairncross Reserve is home to 55 hectares of sub-tropical rainforest as well as an astonishing array of wildlife some of which includes exotic varieties of birds, pademelons, kangaroos and even the endangered blue mountain crayfish. Apart from this, there are also some well-developed walking paths and boardwalks that take you deep into the heart of the reserve and showcase everything that makes this miraculous mountain getaway so special.

We will start the day by having morning tea at the Mountain View Café, which when seated displays a stunning audio/visual landscape of the nearby Glass House Mountains.

After morning tea, we will proceed to the Mary Cairncross Reserve where we will go for a walk and take in the splendours of the natural world around us. Note: there will be a considerable amount of walking required of you throughout the day to be fully involved in this outing.

After our walk, we will have lunch at Mon's Kitchen, which has recently opened a second restaurant in Maleny. At Mon’s you will find main meals like chicken or prawn green and red curries, chicken/prawn or tofu pad Thai, dumplings, green pancakes, chicken satay and a variety of spicy soups.

Once we have finished our lunch, we will make one last stop to the Maleny Chocolate Co. where we will find an impressive range of locally produced chocolates and chocolate products that you can enjoy in store or take home as a tasty souvenir.

Once we have satisfied our sweet tooth, we will drop you home for the conclusion of the outing.
